The store, which is located at 123 Auburn St, will be officially opened at 9am on Thursday by Cr Peter Walker and afterwards there will be a grand opening sale with over 8000 recycled garments, furniture pieces and other household items on sale.
Salvos Stores Area Manager Tony O’Connell said the new store would be replacing the much loved Salvation Army Family Store which has been located at this address for many years.
“The store will have an even larger range of pre-loved clothing, furniture and other items which will be sold at bargain prices,” Mr O’Connell said.
“People from a diverse range of socioeconomic backgrounds now shop at Salvos Stores. There is also increasing customer demand for our range of toiletries, cleaning products and other new household goods”.
He said Salvos Stores provides a vital service to the local area. All profits from Salvos Stores go towards running Salvation Army programs, which assist the less fortunate.
“By shopping at and donating to Salvos Stores, our customers and donors are also helping the environment by recycling their no longer required furniture, clothing and other items,” he said.
“We continue to work closely with government at all levels in developing sustainability programs, which help reduce landfill.
“Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers have been working overtime to get the store ready for this grand opening and I thank them for their commitment.”
