The small Southern Tablelands village of Taralga is making a big name for itself.
First recognised as a settlement in 1825, Taralga was established as a village in the 1860s and has preserved and protected its unique building style up until today. Just 45km from Goulburn, it is located on the Tablelands Way touring route from Goulburn to Mudgee and beyond. Known for its Australia Day camp draft and rodeo, striking stone architecture and the production of prime lamb, beef and fine wool, there are a few more well-kept village secrets drawing visitors in droves.
Eclectopia Gifts
Eclectopia Gifts started its life in the burgeoning artisan market scene back in 2011 when Chrissie O’Neill was living in the Blue Mountains. Newcomers to Taralga, Chrissie and her partner, Lyn Martin, opened their retail store in Orchard Street 18 months ago, as a natural progression from market life. Eclectopia Gifts is unique to the Southern Tablelands and offers a unique opportunity to source quality gifts, including handmade jewellery, ceramics and textiles. Eclectopia's mission is to promote small artisans including works by local artist, Sam Cosgrove. Chrissie is passionate about sourcing diversified gifts of integrity with the appeal of giving something unique and lasting instead of mass produced. Their new specialty homewares store will open on Saturday, December 9 from 10am to 4pm. Just in time for Christmas shopping!
