It was capped off with a nice surprise at the end of the night from our track coordinator Chris Bushell.
Our two regular junior riders kicked proceedings off with a three lap scratch race. The two girls had great tactics and took half lap lead turns, which kept the pace high. On the final lap Emma St Vincent put the pressure on Caitlin Bensley early and sprinted to win comfortably.
The seniors then came on for an all in scratch race. The fast guys where happy to keep the pace civil for the five lapper, until Chris Berry attacked early with well over a lap to go.
This got things moving behind him and his time on the front was short lived with Glen Apps out-sprinting his younger competitors to take victory from Tearloch Carr (SHCC) and Zac St Vincent third.
Next up was the flying 200 meter to get seedings for the upcoming sprint rounds. Flying 200 times: Emma St Vincent 17.39, Caitlin Bensley 18.53, Chris Bushell 16.64, Ian ‘Bluey’ Emmerton 15.31, Des Kidd 16.10, Chris Berry 14.52, Josh Daniels14.41, Tamika Wallace 14.33, Tearloch Carr (SHCC) 12.39, Glen Apps 12.70, Zac St Vincent 12.39.

That concluded the night’s racing, but there was one special suprise event to come. Out came an esky, a barbecue, two boxes and a big pot. All of a sudden the barbecue was lit, the esky was cracked open and out came half a dozen containers of food and the boxes were ripped open.
Before we knew it the mince was reheated and a after a quick demonstration on what to do, we were all walking around eating Bushy’s Walking Tacos. Not quite sure what they are? Head to the track for a bit of racing and you never know, the Walking Tacos might be back. Track continues again this Friday night. Sign on 6:30pm racing starts at 7pm. Spectators are welcome.
