The festival follows on from the “highly successful” Hockey NSW Indoor State Championships, Member for Goulburn Pru Goward said.
The competition will continue for three weeks, until January 25, and will feature some of Australia’s best players in an all-out battle for supremacy.
The event will also serve to loosen the muscles of potential Australian representatives leading into the 2018 Men’s and Women’s Indoor Hockey World Cup in Germany next month.
Ms Goward also emphasized the opportunity that the festival presents for local businesses.
“This provides a fantastic opportunity for local businesses, accommodation providers, restaurants and tourism operators to capitalise on the influx of visitors and showcase why Goulburn is such a wonderful holiday destination,” she said.
The festival will see more than 800 players and 53 teams take part across the three weeks, and will include tournaments for ages from Under 13s to Under 21s.
