The miniature pintaloosa, owned by Jodie and Mick Harkness of Middle Arm, is regularly taken to aged care facilities, schools and community events. He’s the ideal therapy animal, according to his owners, and has a placid nature to boot.
Children had a chance to pat the star attraction while making ‘horsey’ craft as part of the workshop. They also enjoyed a spot of morning tea, which of course was ‘pony bread.’
Children’s librarian Michelle Stuart and library assistant Megan Hunt ran the session.
The fun continues on Tuesday with a ‘Paper Bowls’ craft workshop. The session, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm, invites children aged eight and over to make decoupage bowls using recycled and coloured paper. Bookings are essential and can be made at trybooking.com/RQDL, via the council’s Facebook page, its website or by calling the library on 4823 4435.
Belmore Park is the place to be on Friday, January 19, when the library runs Paddington Bear’s teddy picnic. Storytellers from Canberra will be entertaining the children, who will also enjoy marmalade sandwiches. The picnic, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, is for children aged three and over. Bookings can be made the same way as listed above.
