Between about noon and 1pm the Australia Day address from Upper Lachlan’s Australia Day Ambassador will take place along with the awards presentations. Last weekend the Taralga Campdraft took place with maiden and novice events on Saturday. On Sunday Ladies, juvenile 13 years to under 17 years, junior 8 to under 13 years and open competitions were held.
The event attracted horsemen, horsewomen and younger riders from around NSW, with a strong contingent of local campdrafting enthusiasts. Despite the large out of control bushfire the campdraft continued last weekend, with the helicopters avoiding flying directly over the rodeo ground. There were some local competitors who had to turn their attention to the fires.
Many of the campdrafters will be back at the Taralga Showground for the annual Australia Day Weekend Rodeo. There is a gymkhana on Saturday morning from 9am to noon and the junior rodeo gets underway at 2pm running through till about 7pm.
The main event, the annual Taralga Rodeo, is on Sunday, starting at 9am. Juvenile and novice events will be first up. with a break of about 30 minutes while the man versus, horse versus bike is held. Following will be the open events and continuation of the rough stock riding with the open bull ride featuring in the final third of the program.
