Nicholas Marsh, 19, of Goulburn, did not enter a plea to a charge of reckless wounding when he appeared in Goulburn Local Court.
Police facts tendered in court said at about 12.50am on Sunday, February 4, an argument broke out between Marsh and a 46-year-old man at a Mundy Street, Goulburn home.
Police facts alleged the two men were known to each other and would often meet in a rear shed of the Mundy St home to do weight training together.
On Sunday morning, the pair was allegedly consuming alcohol together, including a homemade spirit similar to methylated spirits.
Police said when the older man asked Marsh to leave, he allegedly became hostile and aggressive towards him.
Police alleged that during the argument, the 46-year-old man was stabbed with a sharp object and sustained a laceration to his head and a stab wound to his shoulder.
Police said Marsh left the scene and the older man retreated to his house and was bleeding heavily. Police and the ambulance were called to the scene.
They observed the older man was suffering from a 4-5cm wound to his shoulder. He was treated at the scene before being taken to Goulburn Base Hospital for treatment.
He received stitches to his head and shoulder and is undergoing surgery today, but is otherwise in a stable condition.
Police from the Hume Local Area Command established a crime scene and a number of items were removed.
Marsh was arrested soon afterwards and was taken to Goulburn Police Station where he was charged with reckless wounding.
In court, Marsh’s solicitor, Kel Clowry said his client did not recall the incident due to his level of intoxication.
Marsh did not enter a plea.
His bail was continued and he will reappear in Goulburn Local Court on February 12.
