A big field of 18 rides signed on for the race under cloudy skies and facing a tricky cross wind.
Starting at Brisbane Grove Road riders headed out on the 22km out and back course, which took them over the Gundary Plain and past the airport before a short climb up to the plateau and the turnaround point at Bullamalita Road.
In the time trial there is no hiding away in the peloton getting protection from the elements. It is the race of truth where riders simply race against the clock. Like in athletics and swimming they are aiming to improve on their personal best performances over the course.
Tony Wade set off first and all other riders followed at 30 second intervals.
In A Grade Cameron Roberts fresh from racing in New Zealand tore up the course averaging 45 km/hr of the journey for a comfortable win over Jacob Emmerton followed by Callum Emmerton.
B Grade turned out to be an arm wrestle between North Sydney rider Ross Hodgsen and Neils Laugesen with the visitor taking the honours this time by 26 seconds. Phil Hansen had a solid ride finishing in third place.
Wayne Bensley took out C Grade by 21 seconds over young Alex Parlett with Chris Berry a further four seconds back in third.
In D Grade Ted Goad took line honours with Tony Wade in second place.
Thanks to the volunteers - timekeeper Mrs Bush, Chief Commissaire Phil Bush, traffic controllers Grant Moller and Anthony Field and David Carmichael and Garry Sheehy in the lead/follow cars.
Next Wednesday racing is at Breadalbane for the Acciona Gunning Wind Farm Graded Scratch Race.
Sign on is 6pm at the church and racing starts at 6.30pm. New riders are always welcome.
