The new playground features slides, swings and climbing structures that are sure to excite children of Goulburn and will be covered by shade sails.
Mayor Bob Kirk was pleased to see the improvements made to one of Goulburn’s under-used parks.
“This work comes as part of our ongoing open space improvement program, and should really bring life back to Gerathy Park,” Cr Kirk said.
“Located to the south of Wollondilly River, this park is easily accessible to a huge amount of families in the area as well as being only a two minute walk from the River Walkway.
“Other projects to be undertaken as part of our open space improvement program will include further outdoor exercise equipment, improvements in Belmore Park and the significant work to be done in Victoria Park. $896,000 has been allocated under the NSW Stronger Country Community Fund for stage one in Victoria Park, which is very exciting.”
Stage one of works in Victoria Park will include lights for Seiffert Oval, significant Skate Park upgrades and a ‘Rage Cage’ multi-purpose sports court. The Adventure Playground is also expected to be completed and officially opened within the coming weeks.
The Gerathy Park upgrade follows on from last year’s upgrade of Garfield Park in West Goulburn which included a new dog off-leash area and play equipment.
