Manessah is now playing with Gungahlin United in the Canberra National Premier Women’s League and played in the competitions opening on Sunday against Monaro Panthers at Queanbeyan.
The game was played in very trying conditions with high temperatures, strong winds and a ground that was hard with long grass and rough in places. However despite this Players from both Teams handled the conditions well and a very skilful was seen.
Monaro were the first to score inside the first ten minutes against the run of play, when their striker beat Gungahlin’s back line to put in a well-placed shot that gave Gungahlin keeper with no chance to save.
This goal forced Gungahlin into action and they were back on even terms ten minutes before the half time break following good lead up play.
The second half was all Gungahlin as they had the home team on the back foot and were unlucky not to put the game out of Monaro’s reach early as they hit the goal posts twice.
With 15 minutes to go Manessah found herself in space on the left, she moved in field and with a pinpoint pass found her striker unmarked who made no mistake with the shot to give her team a two-one winning start to the season.
