The Reds led by 26-0 eighteen minutes into the match but that momentum was halted for a good 15 minutes as Wests worked their way back into the game and Goulburn conceded a run of penalties.
Coach Ben Pearson’s warned against complacency and exhorted his troops to up the ante in the second half and that’s what they did.
After four tries in the first half, the Reds added a further seven in the second.
Captain Jordan Wilcox finished with a hat-trick and the club’s leading point scorer Mikael Webber added another 17 points to his tally (along with another nine points in reserve grade).
The result was Goulburn’s second biggest all-time winning margin against Wests, Goulburn’s biggest win of the year and Wests biggest loss of the season.
From four matches this year, the Reds have registered two wins, a draw and just one loss but they will be tested next week on the road against Cooma – a match that typically stretches Goulburn’s player numbers.

It wasn’t all bad news for Wests with a commanding 45-21 win against the Goulburn Dirty Twos.
Most of the damage was done in the first half with the Lions leading 35-0 at the break.
Halfway through the second half, Wests were up 45-0 but the Dirty Twos showed great tenacity to pile on three quick tries.
Adam Lachlan crossed for two tries and Mik Webber for one, all converted for Webber, and while there’s no denying Wests dominance, Goulburn’s determination to not throw in the towel was a sign of good things to come.
