Spearheaded by Sylvana Aliffi, Edna Gallagher and our most recent and youngest member, Peta Ingles, the task was undertaken with some trepidation by our (ageing) committee. More than 100 guests attended, making the evening an outstanding success and raising considerable funds to assist local sufferers and their families and for research into this insidious disease that takes so many young Australians early in their life.
Without the overwhelming generosity of local and out-of-town businesses and private individuals who supported our group by way of donations, goods and advertising, this event would not have been possible. Our thanks to the Goulburn Workers Club and their staff, to those who assisted with advertising and promotions and to all businesses and individuals for their donations and support. Our group is well aware of the demands made on local business by the many charity and sporting organisations. Time and time again, we are amazed by their response. Finally, thanks to those who attended for their generosity and spirited involvement. Very much appreciated.
In the past year, three babies were born in this district with cystic fibrosis: three too many. Recently, a local girl underwent a successful lung transplant, the start of a new life for her. Hope lies with continuing research to find a cure. Hope lies with those who have left us and choose to leave behind a living part of themselves by way of organ donation. Our group always welcomes new members and supporters. For more more information follow Cystic Fibrosis – Goulburn & District Support Group on Facebook or call 0408 286 774.
