I couldn't agree more with your editorial regarding the bio-generation plant at the abattoir and asking whether Angus Taylor thinks the government should buy back Hazelwood (Goulburn Post, April 13).

What is it with the coal industry that it has the LNP by the throat? The most obvious direction Australia should be taking is with renewable energy. Australia is wasting valuable time with stunts. Who can forget the Treasurer, Scott Morrison, juggling a piece of coal in Parliament singing its praises.
Where does Angus Taylor stand on all this? He claims to believe in a "hands off" approach to market forces, so does he support his colleagues in the Monash Forum who want to nationalise coal fired generators or force AGL to sell its Liddell plant?
Australia is one country in the world best placed to benefit from renewable energy and Goulburn is already part of this new industry with wind and solar farms. There are also two biogenerators and farmers and industries are looking to diversify their income streams.
Clean energy needs the same support from the Government that coal has had and continues to have.
Most of all, we need leadership.
