A lot of interest was shown in the display and, as a result, we are hoping to start another of our Argyle Singers Choirs there soon.
U3A already have such choirs at Goulburn and Gunning as well as an a capella choir and the Partners in Song choir in Goulburn.
Last Saturday, the guest speaker for 'Grist for the Mill' was Jane Bushell, the dementia advisor for our area, who spoke about simple steps to maximise your brain health and tips for keeping your memory sharp.
U3A took this opportunity to present Jane with a cheque for Dementia Australia – the proceeds of the raffle they held over the two days of their Grey Mardi Gras, which celebrated this year's Senior's Festival.
On Sunday a new weekly class – Auslan – started, which will be of great benefit to those people who have impaired hearing or have members of their family or friends who are.
Another of our classes – ‘Armchair Travel’ – gives everyone a chance to ‘visit’ exotic, far away places without leaving the comfort of their armchair, and on Saturday, May 19, 1.30pm at the Depot on the corner of Bourke and Combermere Streets, Christine Bentley will be talking about Chile.
For further information about U3A's classes and activities visit the U3A website www.gmu3a.com.au, email info@gm-u3a.com.au or phone their Secretary, 4823 6256.
