Forget trying to watch the Royal Wedding, this person’s antics brought many residents out into their yards to view the noisy spectacle.
Residents said a person driving a white Holden Commodore drove up and down the street doing fishtails and burnouts in the normally quiet area, known as Gallows Hill, because it was a favoured spot for hangings in the early nineteenth century.
Bradley St resident Don Fischer said he was “terrified” by the incident.
“i was not game to go out the front,” Mr Fischer said.
“An idiot like that tearing up the street. It was absolutely terrifying.
“The amount of smoke in the street made me think there was a house on fire.
“It was the work of a maniac. I hope the police catch them and make them come back and clean the skid marks off street. They should scrub the road down.”
Inspector John Sheehan said police received calls about the incident on the night.
“We received an anonymous call about a person driving wildly in a White Commodore in Bradley Street at about 10.46pm on Saturday night,” Insp Sheehan said.
“We got a description of the vehicle and police attended but we could not locate the person.”
Insp Sheehan said there was no connection between this incident and a deserted car, found smashed in nearby Prince St.
Other residents believe this car (see gallery pic 5 to 7) was involved in a collision with a tree in that street sometime last Wednesday, May 16. Investigations continue.
