A new art workshop is being held on Monday, June 18 from 10am-12noon at Workspace 2580 for everyone, especially those from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds and people with disabilities.
Settlement Services Australia (SSI) and NSW Ability Links are offering the workshop with artist Barbara Nell, who will be teaching participants techniques to create water colour art works.
Mrs Nell said a lot can be achieved in a two-hour workshop, even if people have never painted before.
“The biggest problem with approaching art is how you feel about it and whether you think you are any good at it,” she said.
“You can be shown techniques that will open it all up.”
Seta Nooraninejad from SSI said Ability Links was a program created by the NSW Government to support people with disabilities, their families and carers to live the life they want as valued and equal members of the community.
“Through community conversation our team has noticed there is a lack of information and services available across Southern NSW,” Ms Nooraninejad said.
“For this reason, the SSI and Ability Links decided to organise a roadshow for different towns including Goulburn to celebrate the Ability Links Program.
“It is also about giving something back to the community.”
The free workshop runs for two hours. To book in, contact Workspace 2580 on 4821 3350.
