Emergency services were called to Tarago Road at Lake George, about 14km from Bungendore at about 10am Sunday, after reports a cyclist was hit by a vehicle.
The woman, who police said was aged in her 60s, died at the scene.
The male driver was not physically injured and is expected to be taken to a hospital for mandatory testing.
It’s understood the accident, some 34km from Canberra, occurred on a bend in the road.
Officers from Monaro Police District have established a crime scene, which will be forensically examined.
Crash Investigation Unit Officers are enroute to the scene and will commence an investigation into the crash.
Traffic diversions are in place and motorists are urged to monitor livetraffic.com
Police will also prepare a report for the Coroner.
No other details are available at this stage. Police could not say where the woman was from.
