CEO Delise Freeman explained: “as part of our functions we carry out Welcome/Acknowledgment of Country Speeches, Aboriginal Heritage Inspections, Cultural Awareness Workshops and Cultural Talks to Schools, Businesses and other Community Organisation’s.
“All enquiries should be forwarded to the Land Council office at 80 Combermere Street, Goulburn, or by telephoning our office on 02-48223552, or via email: pejar1@bigpond.com, NOT discussed directly with our Chairperson or Deputy Chairperson or any other Board member. Once we are contacted we will deal with the enquiry immediately or if that is not possible at either a Board or members meeting.
“There are a few misconceptions out there that all enquiries relating to the PLALC need to be discussed directly with our Chairperson or Deputy Chairperson, this is not the case.
“Anything associated with any of the enquiries whether it be media releases, Cultural Awareness Workshops, schools visits including Pre-schools, Welcome/Acknowledgment of Country Speeches or invitations to community functions or forums as well as job opportunities and training, should be discussed with the Office of the PLALC.
“We are aware that there are other Aboriginal Community groups that are contacted regarding some issues, however, we do not wish this to change, we would like the wider community to understand that if the Land Council is to be involved, then the office must be contacted in the first instance.
“These are the correct protocol’s that need to be followed when dealing with enquiries relating to the PLALC. Do not make enquiries directly to our Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson or any of our other Board Members.”
