First laneway artwork completed
The first of two laneway art projects was completed over the June long weekend and we have been receiving glowing reviews from the community. The piece was created by Bradley Eastman who works under the moniker of ‘Beastman,’ and can be found in Russell Lane on the besser block wall attached to Bi-Rite.

Walker Lane will be the next to be revitalised by an artwork created by James Lieutenant and Kate Vassallo who are a collaborative duo from Canberra. Keep an eye out for this piece that will be attached to laneway façade of Saltwater Dream.
We would like to thank the private owners of each of the buildings who have enabled these installations to proceed.
Walkway improvements underway
The Wollondilly River Walkway will be significantly improved over the coming weeks as we install seating, picnic areas and undertake vegetation clearing.
Eleven seats and three picnic tables will be installed along stage one of the walkway, which runs from Marsden Weir to Kenmore Street. The installation will begin in the coming week and is expected to be complete by the end of the month – the equipment will mean the space is friendlier to families and will offer places for a break.
The river is also looking much better following the vegetation clearing, which is focused on improving access and the appearance of the river corridor.
Mary’s Mount Infrastructure
I was concerned that recent media coverage and correspondence inferred money raised from development contributions is not being spent in the Mary’s Mount area – for the record, every dollar raised by contributions from this area has been or will be spent there.
Since 2006 we have spent $3.7m on road infrastructure, over $1m on stormwater control, $1.5m on water infrastructure and $1.6m on wastewater infrastructure.
Three and a half million is also allocated for further water and wastewater infrastructure in this area in the coming four years.
Finally - $1.18m will be spent in the Mary’s Mount area for the exciting new Riverside Park that will be one of the region’s best open spaces. We recently applied for $750,000 of grant funding through the Stronger Country Communities Fund; we hope to hear back regarding this application in the coming months.
