The Swans, who are now placed fifth on the ladder and well poised to make a run for the finals in the latter half of the season, took on the seventh-ranked Seahawks in a match which helped to define the middle of the table.
Despite the old adage that away games are always harder to win, the Swans dominated Saturday’s match from the outset.
At the end of the first quarter, they held a 15 point lead, 3-18, which continued to grow with each interval.
At half time, the difference was 29 points, then 42 points at three quarter time, and the match finished with the Swans (12.11.83) leading the Seahawks (3.6.24) by 59 points.
The win is Goulburn’s second on the trot, and levels what has been a tumultuous year for the Swans. They currently sit with three wins and three losses, and they will next take on the second from bottom-ranked Molonglo side at Goodhew Park on Saturday June 23.
This should prove an easier match for the Swans, however Molonglo have showed glimpses of talent this year and their recent win over ANU will give them confidence going forward, meaning that Goulburn will need to remain wary.
