Besides their small side football games these young soccer players could for a donation take a turn on one of the jumping castles set up for the event or purchase a scarf to keep them warm and show their support for the Australian side that was due to take on France in the World cup pool game on Saturday night.
The small side games are a great introduction for youngsters to the world game and an opportunity to pretend that they are one of the top players as they kick the ball around, trying to score a goal.
The game also teaches the kids about teamwork and passing to a teammate who is unmarked by the opposition. Most of the time this training goes over the youngsters heads at first and it is every boy and girl for themselves. The screams of joy as the young players score is usually matched by the laughter of parents, grand parents and other spectators at the antics if the mini footballers. It is often described as the parents morning entertainment. A treasured experience watching the kids develop their skills.
