Pru Goward and the Corrective Services Commissioner, Peter Severin, have got it right.

Proponents for any unsolicited $1 billion (let alone the original $2.5 billion) development proposal always talk the talk; but in the end they have but one thing in mind: “How much can we make out of this?”

On the other hand, the NSW State Government, the Goulburn Mulwaree Council and the Goulburn residents are left with tasks of providing all the infrastructure to support the spruiked 560 full time jobs.

For a start there is no unemployment problem in Goulburn, so the vast majority of 560 workers would have to be imported, together with their families.

So that means providing new housing (close to 560 new houses), education facilities (at least one whole new school), and health facilities (both standard and mental).

And they are just the start … and they need to be in place before the arrival of the 560 workers and their families.  

And that doesn't account for the increased pressure on roads, traffic, parking, public transport etc etc all of which needs careful planning and a lot of money in advance of the increase rates revenue.

In the meantime the exploiters (sorry, developers) walk away with a motza.
