Whilst I agree with Barry McDonald’s criticism of the poor performance of some ‘privately owned freight trains’ and the knock-on effect on our passenger services, I must record that over the past six week travelling to/from Sydney on several occasions, our arrivals at the Sydney terminal and Goulburn station have been ‘spot-on’ – even a few minutes early on arrival in Goulburn on one occasion!

Bouquets as well as brick bats!
Prior to his retirement 50 years ago, my father’s primary responsibility at the Enfield Loco Depot was to investigate the cause of late arrival of goods trains into Enfield. It was a full time task! So nothing’s really changed.
