That doesn't mean that the 'Tavern' won't be held – it will be our normal social night.
So come along from 6.30pm, bring something to cook on the barbecue, in the microwave or in the oven, or just come along for a few drinks.
Bring the family or visitors, but please, no pets.
Pass this invitation along to others in the Towrang area, perhaps new neighbours, that may not know about our monthly friendly get-together.
Donation to the Hall Trust to help with electricity/gas costs.
Progress Group meeting
The Progress Group meeting for Wednesday, August 8 has been cancelled, but please come along from 6.30pm on Wednesday, September 12 at the Towrang Hall.
New Towrang community space
The landscaping of the community outdoor space behind the Towrang Hall has now been approved.
The project between the TVPG and the Hall Trust is progressing with the appointment of a local landscaper and some small works have already commenced.
It is hoped the project will be finished in time for the warmer weather so the community can enjoy many outdoor events in this newly invigorated Towrang village precinct.
Brigade information
Towrang Brigade Fire Station will be open on Saturday, September 22 during the NSW RFS Annual Get Ready Weekend, so put this date in your diary.
The station will be open for inspection and residents can come along and get valuable information on property preparation, becoming a volunteer firefighter and the types of training courses on offer.
Further details will be issued in the next few weeks.
It's not long until the commencement of the bushfire season, so now is the best time to be raking, weeding, slashing, trimming and getting rid of the combustibles around your house to help protect your property in the event of a bushfire.
It is also a good time to be checking on your firefighting equipment – making sure your pumps are operational, situated in an appropriate location, that your hoses are in good condition and, most importantly, that your entire family knows how to use it if needed.
Now would also be a good time to prepare a Fire Emergency Plan.
For further information, come along to the fire station on a Tuesday evening or log onto the NSW RFS site – www.rfs.nsw.gov.au.
Can't make it on a Tuesday evening? Ring the duty phone, 0438 429 871, and arrangements can be made to meet you on a weekend.
We will be holding a Basic Bushfire Course later in the year.
If anyone is interested in joining the brigade, please contact the above duty phone number or send an email to towrangbrigade@gmail.com.
You will need to register and complete a joining application form some weeks prior to the course commencing.
