Developer Nicolas Daoud was in Goulburn on Friday to inspect the site and meet with workers. 

He said the project was going “full steam ahead”  with an expected completion date for the $17 million project on track for mid 2019. 

“We have approval for 17 villas in the residential component and we also have 25 residential apartments coming up as well as 64 serviced apartments,” Mr Daoud said. 

“We have finished the excavation and we are now in the process of constructing the serviced apartments, which will then be followed up by the constriction of the villas on the northern side.”

“We are also refurbishing the convent and the work in the chapel is mostly done.

“It is all happening. Hopefully by next June we will have the whole job done. It will transform the whole area.”

He said the apartments and villas would be ideal for those looking to downsize and have proximity to the main street. 

“It will be a very convenient place for people to live,” he said.

“Especially for those wishing to downsize and live close to town. The buildings will incorporate smart technologies such as swipe cards and there will be lift access throughout, so that retirees wont have to use the stairs. Accessibility is an important aspect of it all.”

He said there would be provision for 110 parking spaces underneath the complex. 

The 1890s Our Lady of Mercy chapel and the main administration building, a former convent, will be retained in the development. 

Mr Daoud bought the property in March, 2014.
