Ornamental plum trees were planted in a shaded area of the school’s playground and has now been sealed off to allow them to grow.
“We look at what grows well in the area and ornamental plum trees do,” Goulburn activities organiser Bonnie Wilson said.
“The shade will help with its growing process.
“Once the plants are established, they will just need a bit of watering.
“We left the school some fertiliser if they need it.”
The annual event supports National Tree day and Ms Wilson said they had never been to the school before.
“We visit a different school every year,” she said.
“This is the first time we have been at this school.”
The occasion not only gave students the opportunity to get their hands dirty, but to learn about how to protect and help the environment.
“We gave the students lessons on what trees do to the environment,” Bunnings’ activities organiser Jordan Brooker said.
“It’s about raising awareness on the importance of sustainability.”
The School’s administrative manager Sue Peden was thankful towards those involved.
“We are extremely grateful for the generosity and support provided by Bunnings’ and their team members,” Ms Peden said.
The students involved were in Kindergarten to Year six and a part of the school’s Student Representative Council.
