Racing in the NSW Road Championships at Illawarra, Elsie started well with a third in the time trial.
Only 12 seconds separated the first to third and set up a three-way battle between Elsie, Paige Squire, Bathurst and Emily Hines, Dubbo for the remaining events.
The Road Race was also evenly contested with the three riders again dominating and fifteen seconds between gold and bronze. Squire took the gold, Hines the silver and Elsie another bronze.
Sunday saw a complete change to the perfect weather of the previous day with cold blustery winds making for difficult conditions at the Wollongong Lighthouse circuit for the criterium.
After a close first few laps, Squire again dominated with Hines and Elsie battling for the minors. Elsie led into the final sprint only to be run down short of the line to make it three bronze medals for the championships.
Goulburn Cycle Club coach Graeme Northey said it was a great effort from Elsie considering she gave away almost 12 months in age and considerable size to her bigger opponents.
She now faces a bigger challenge as she steps up to the Under 13 division starting with the track season. With her commitment to training there is no doubt she will handle the step.
