The Historic Sports and Racing Car Association of NSW will head to Wakefield Park near Goulburn on the weekend of September 22 and 23 to celebrate the return of spring with the 2018 Spring Festival.
The Spring Festival will attract a large and varied grid of historic cars.
Sports, racing and touring cars from the 1930s all the way through to the ’90s will take to the track, each immaculately prepared and driven in a manner that honours their early days on Australian race tracks.
Sports Sedans will take part in an HSRCA meeting for the first time over the weekend. MGs will also feature, the two groups joining with Group N and Group S and making the Spring Festival a great meeting to check out for fans of tin top racing.
For fans of sports race cars, Sports 2000s and 1300s will also feature.
All historic sports and racing cars are welcome, and competing cars will include everything from the above to rear-engined race cars of the ‘60s and ‘70s, higher-capacity wings ‘n’ slicks cars and one-off specials that demonstrate the wonderful variety found in motorsport’s history. Regularity and supersprint time trials will provide even more scope for interesting and exciting cars and drivers.
The event will open from 9am on Saturday as drivers head out for qualification, and shift into top gear that afternoon with the first of the weekend’s races.
Sunday is race day and will also include the Spring Festival’s feature races. The circuit will sing with the spectacular sounds of motorsport from just after 9am.
Sports 2000, Formula Ford, Formula Vee, Groups N and S and Regularity are all contesting rounds of their annual championships over the weekend.

The organisers say “Wakefield Park is a magic circuit for spectators. It has an open layout that provides a view around the full layout and there are several vantage points that allow you to get up close to the action. With its relaxed and friendly ambience, easy access and parking, it’s a great place to take in a race meeting.
“The historic motorsport community is welcoming and friendly and most of us love nothing more than to meet someone new and have a chat – especially if it’s about the cars or our not-at-all-exaggerated on-track adventures,” they added jovially.
“Make sure to take a break from races to explore the pits and paddock, say hi to the drivers and teams and enjoy some quality one-on-one time with the cars.”
The Spring Festival is a family-friendly event. As such, relaxation spaces, food and drink, and activities for kids and families will be available. Classic car displays will feature at the event on Sunday and demonstration runs for classic car clubs will be held when the circuit quietens down for lunch.
