The Workers Club will play host to a Back To The ’80s event to raise funds for Can Assist Goulburn on Saturday night.
The band Flipside was a big hit at last year’s event and are expected to go up another notch this year.
Can Assist help those in the country towns of NSW with the financial burdens of cancer by helping them with their bills and that sort of stuff.
“In the past two years, Can Assist Goulburn paid out about $100,000,” liaison officer of Can Assist Goulburn Ruth Doggett said.
“We give things out like petrol vouchers, electricity bills, phone bills and medical costs.”
Ms Doggett has a personal connection to the charity.
“When my brother in law got cancer, they assisted him, so my way of helping back is by volunteering.
A raffle will be held on the night and there will be four prizes.
First prize is a week’s accommodation to a choice of three venues and was donated by the workers club.
Second prize is a bedroom package with things like quilts and sheets.
Third prize is glassware donated by the Crisp Art Gallery at Yass.
Fourth prize is a $250 voucher from Baxter Boots
There will be plenty forms of entertainment including fun and games.
“We've got a mini auction and a best dressed competition as well as other things including a fun game called a coaster toss which will have two prizes,” she said.
“One is a bottle of scotch and the other is a container of lollies with a $20 Kmart voucher.”
The event starts at 6pm at the auditorium in the Workers Club.
Tickets are $25.
