There was a constant stream of visitors throughout the day and quite a number of locals were amazed at how many classes U3A has to offer.
Our tai chi, Auslan, recorder and croquet classes all gave demonstrations and one of our music teachers gave a cello recital.
The cool weather kept our volunteer cooks on the free sausage sizzle stall pretty busy, and the display of posters of our classes generated a lot of interest.
This resulted in a number new members joining that day, with others coming in since to join.
An added bonus was that a further $100 was raised, which will be donated to Dementia Australia to boost the donation we made to them earlier this year.
We have decided to hold another Open Day at the Depot on Saturday, December 1, so if you miss our September one make sure you mark December 1 on your calendar!
U3A will be taking part in the Lilac Time Festival on Saturday, September 29 at Belmore Park.
Call into our marquee and say g'day, have a look at our poster display, have a chat to one of our volunteers, pick up a brochure and stay to watch some of our demonstrations.
We look forward to seeing you there!
