Well you don’t have long to do so as applications to become the next Goulburn Showgirl close September 30.
Goulburn Showgirl 2018 Shernoah Evans said the best thing about the role is that it is a very good experience due to the skills she gained. The role includes helping out with setting up the Goulburn show each year.
“It’s been really good and I’ve learnt heaps,” Ms Evans said.
“I definitely got a lot more skills like being more confident within myself.
“It’s a very good experience overall.”
The 20-year-old joined after being persuaded to do so by family and friends and due to her love for the Goulburn Show and agriculture.
The Crookwell resident encourages people to apply as she feels there is a lack of numbers, especially younger ones.
“I love the Goulburn Show, but I think that the numbers are not there,” she said.
“We need a lot more youth in the shows.
“Give it a go.
“It’s not a beauty pageant.
“It’s about getting involved in the community, giving everything a go and you do benefit from it.
“I was a shy and quiet person, but over the past year, I’ve grown heaps.”
Coordinator of Goulburn Showgirls Laura Fletcher said the winner will demonstrate “a good knowledge of their home town”.
“They will also have good ideas on how they can improve the future of shows for the younger generation.”
Like Ms Evans, Ms Fletcher loves the Goulburn show and what it does.
“I think it’s a great show for this town, as it promotes a lot of small businesses.”
The winner of the 2019 Goulburn Showgirl competition will win some great prizes donated by local businesses.
Ms Evans hopes to still help out at all of the shows in the future.
Entries are open to any female between the ages of 18 and 25.
Contact Shernoah Evans on 0412 453 913 or Laura Fletcher on 0421 081 794 to apply or for more information.
