Arthur doesn’t.
He squeals.
What started off as a tranquil event turned into a cacophony of animal noises.
The pet parade at Belmore Park on Monday was once again very popular at this year’s Lilac City Festival, with pets ranging from horses to reptiles to pigs competing for awards.
The smallest pet award went to Bluey the Blue-tongue lizard and Bobby the Shingleback, owned by Stanley Carney, who is no stranger to being finger-nipped.
“They can actually bite pretty hard,” Mr Carney said.
Kate Easley brought her horse, Cotton Socks, to the event, which sparked a photographic frenzy.
And then came Arthur, the pig who could act as an alarm clock for a whole neighbourhood.
As soon as he was picked up, he whined his way into the loudest pet award and caused a ruckus in the process.
Other competitors in other categories included Peter and Linda Ford’s dogs, ‘Picasso’ and ‘U2’.
The event was a fitting end to another successful Lilac Festival.
