The biggest change to have come through was the announcement that much of NSW cricket would be rezoned, which made Goulburn a part of the ACT Southern District Zone.
As part of this change, Goulburn children underwent trials in July and August, along with kids from Yass and Crookwell, to decide on representative teams which would then compete in ACT-based competitions throughout the cricket season.
The first of those competitions, the Kookaburra Cup, wrapped up on Friday afternoon in Canberra following three intensive days of cricket in the Under 12’s division.
The combined Goulburn, Yass, and Crookwell team played under the banner of the Southern Tablelands, and competed well in their six matches.
By the end of the tournament, the team had won three of their six games and finished fifth on the ladder out of ten teams.
It was a strong showing from a young team in their first performance together (aside from a brief outing the weekend prior to the tournament against a combined Southern Highlands side), and showed an enormous amount of potential.
