The luxurious Mt Hay Retreat is renowned as a haven for couples to escape, unwind and refresh. It has been in the ownership of the Houghton family since 1987.
Initially Mt Hay was the family’s private place to get away from it all. Now home to two generations, this working farm and retreat is set on more than 360 acres.
Recognising the potential of their surroundings, owners Anthony and Louise spent many years tinkering on concepts and plans to add luxury tourist cabins to the estate. This gave new life to the farm and allowed others to enjoy this stunning place. Mt Hay Retreat welcomed its first guests in 2015.
Anthony and Louise operate the retreat full time ensuring they are on hand to see to the day-to-day running of this special place.

Enjoying a genuinely majestic natural setting on the famed New South Wales South Coast, Mt Hay Retreat is dominated by breathtaking views and offers a secluded and peaceful sanctuary well away from the cares and complexities of contemporary life, while still being only minutes from the heart of Berry Village.
Each suite has a private entrance through extensive gardens designed to provide year round colour and interest and also to attract and provide habitat for native birds and wildlife - which so many of their guests comment on and enjoy.
All suites are refined, spacious and luxuriously understated with expansive living areas and an intuitive design that encourages seamless indoor/outdoor living. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors glide away to bring the enormous vista that dominates every suite right into your very own living room.
Each residence also includes a very generous private deck with a feature outdoor bath, individual private gardens, plus those views that stretch uninterrupted across the landscaped grounds and nearby countryside of Berry all the way to the sparkling ocean on the horizon.
This is a haven like no other. The accommodation is exceptional, the views and surrounds are breathtaking, the welcome is warm and genuine and the facilities are second to none. There is a 33m heated indoor pool and spa, a giant chess set, established fruit trees, hidden glades and tranquil dams, manicured gardens and a sky scraping ‘cloud swing’ for guests to enjoy.
All of this while enjoying privacy, seclusion and excellent service.
