They have already been treated to a bonfire at a district property and have met with Goulburn Mulwaree Mayor Bob Kirk.
Teatre Brama are expert practitioners of Social Community Theatre. They challenge the relationship between audience and theatre, useing performance to create a participatory meeting, not a spectator activity.
As part of this celebration of international artistic collaboration, the two companies will create brand new theatre during the week prior to the festival.
Teatr Brama will incorporate local performers into their production Ghost Dance Impressions and Lieder Theatre performers will revive their award-winning production Monochrome which received acclaim at the American Association of Community Theatre’s WorldFest in June this year.
Finally, the two companies are already preparing a completely new collaborative work to be performed on Sunday evening.
In a weekend of workshops, discussions and networking, Periphery will examine theatre as a tool for social change. There will be keynote presentations from Chrisjohn Hancock, Artistic Director of the Lieder Theatre and Daniel Jacewicz, founder of the Teatr Brama, panel discussion and presentations from community arts leaders, masterclasses, and a special opportunity for anyone to make a 3 minute ‘pitch’ – the arts equivalent of the open mic.
The festival includes performances from Lieder Youth and a Fire Show on Friday night in the Mary Mackillop Rose Gardens at 9pm.
