Angels For The Forgotten board member Jason Shepherd said the group was still trying to sort out ‘where to from here’ and to keep some of its services running.
Angels For The Forgotten in Goulburn ran a Food Bank, a Homeless Support Program, DV support, Restart mental health support, a community kitchen, and emergency relief.
“We are still trying to work out what to do,” Mr Shepherd said.
“It closed in mid-October and we are undertaking a restructure in an attempt to keep the Food Bank and the homelessness services going.
“The Railway Cafe and the opp shop have closed.
“Hopefully people may come forward to offer us a place for the Food Bank – it would need access for a pallet so that a truck can unload.”
Meanwhile, Anglicare crisis housing manager Toni Reay said the closure of community support services in Goulburn is “deeply concerning.”
“It means individuals and families locally that struggle to make ends meet and keep a roof over their heads may have even less access to the help they need,” Ms Reay said.
“At Anglicare, we are committed to providing people with housing support, emergency relief and food hampers, however, we know that service closures in this community will inevitably result in further demand for our services.”
Those needing help with housing, emergency relief and food assistance can contact Anglicare Goulburn on 4823 4000 or St Vincent de Paul on 4822 5216.
