Coming from a musical family started the Goulburn resident’s love for music.
“My father was a musician,” Mr Agius said.
“He kind of played in bands when he was younger.
“My father used to play at family barbecues and I sort of wanted to join in and play along.
The musician started playing guitar at a young age, but didn’t perform in public until his 30s.
“I started playing guitar when I was 11-years-old,” he said.
“I just enjoyed listening to music, listening to my father play and I just sort of got into it.
“I never got into playing in public until my 30’s when I did a couple of shows to help my little brother.
“People then started asking me to solo gigs for them and it went from there.”
The Sydney FC and Manchester United supporter is quite popular across the country music crowd and has an award to show for it.
“I received an award at the Aussie country music awards for my song ‘All I Have To Offer You Is Me’,” he said.
“It was also the most requested song by an Aussie independent artist on overseas radio in 2010.”
The main goal of the plasterer is to continue making music as he loves seeing the reactions of his audience.
“I want to just keep playing for as long as I can make people happy,” he said.
“I enjoy doing what I do because I like seeing people get up, dance and sing along to my songs.”
If you are unsure about attending, Mr Agius promised that those involved will have a great time.
“I’ll be doing few classics, a bit of rock and roll and a bit of pub rock,” he said.
“Come along, have a good time and have your requests ready.
“I love taking requests because if I can play a song people want to hear, it gets them involved.”
Spice up your Friday night on November 9 from 8:30pm and get over to the Southern Railway Hotel for the free masterclass from Goulburn’s own Jamie Agius.
