Police said the fire was lit by a patient in Goulburn’s Chisholm Ross Centre at 9:30am this morning, but was contained.
NSW Fire and Rescue crews were alerted to the incident due to the smoke alarm being activated, but managed to extinguish it quickly.
A foam mattress, along with pillow and sheets were burnt.
Wednesday 11:30am
NSW Fire and Rescue crews have extinguished a fire at Goulburn’s Chisholm Ross Centre.
The fire broke out in a room at about 10am Wednesday. Police said a mattress had been set alight in a room of the mental health facility in Clifford Street.
Three Fire and Rescue NSW trucks were at the scene. Police also attended.
Police have taped off the area. The extent of damage is not known at this stage.
