Ray White Yass agent Dominic Johns said Yass and Goulburn appealed to tree-changers or expanding local families.
“Yass has become gradually more and more attractive to non-locals," Mr Johns said.
"We’re only 10 minutes to Murrumbateman and half an hour to Canberra. You can create a rural lifestyle and the quaint community with all benefits of being of within a short commute to the nation’s capital.”
He said Yass was known as a picturesque historic town within the capital region, which had seen a solid growth rate of 11.6 per cent over the last year.
Meanwhile, Ray White Rural Canberra and Yass agent George Southwell said the enquiry level for Goulburn properties had “gone through the roof” in the past 18 months.
“It is very attractive to people because it is one of the oldest towns in Australia and because of its proximity to Sydney, Canberra and the Hume Highway,” Mr Southwell said.
“Talking to agents up there, they're getting a lot of enquiries from Sydney because the Southern Highlands is becoming quite expensive to live in, so people are moving south.
“We're seeing the same in Yass, anything close to the highway.
“Yass and Goulburn are among the few places that you can buy a house and be confident in it as an investment as prices are rising.”
