Girls Day Out is one of the most popular days on the Goulburn social racing calendar and everyone is hoping for a fine, warm day on Saturday, when Goulburn District Racing Club hosts it’s annual event.

Gates to the Goulburn Racetrack open at 10am with the first race at 11.35am.
Goulburn and District Racing Club’s chief executive Robyn Fife said they were expecting a huge crowd for this popular race day.
“Virtually all the umbrella tables and marquees are already booked and we are still getting enquiries,” Ms Fife said. “Last time I checked the weather bureau was predicting a warm, sunny, fine day and the track is looking good for the seven event race program.
“The meeting this year is sponsored by long term racing club supporters S & K Wilson Plumbing and no doubt plenty of their staff will be there to enjoy the afternoon.
“Local band Ooh La La will be providing entertainment after the races.
“Fashions on the Field on Saturday is sponsored by the Goulburn Post and Local sales manager Rosey Stronach along with Kerry Chalker from Look Good Feel Better and Bek Gerstner from Bek’s Bloomz will be judging the contest. Compere for the Fashions on the Field will be James McDonald from Radio Goulburn.”
Categories in the fashions stakes are: Young racegoer (under 18), millinery, local racegoer, gent (18 years plus), lady (18 years plus) and best couple.The fashions will be judged on the main stage, between races, starting at 2.05pm.
There is no registration required, contestants in the local section need to reside withing 50km of Goulburn and you can enter multiple categories. Just gather at the side of the stage at the required time.
“We have a lolly bar in the hospitality area for young under 18 racegoers,” Ms Fife said. “We do ask that people enjoy themselves and drink responsibly. “Police both uniformed and undercover will be keeping an eye on crowd behaviour and keeping an eye out for any under aged drinkers.”
The plan B, bus option is available, with a courtesy bus running to the track from outside the Hibernian Hotel in Verner Street, at 11am and 12 noon. the Return trip will be to the same location from 4pm – 6pm approximately every 15 minutes. Entry to the racecourse is $20 for adults, $10 concessions /students (under 18) and under 5 years free. No food except pre-packaged chips, nuts and biscuits is allowed onto the racecourse, no drinks of any type are allowed and no umbrellas.
EFPOS is available at the gate, public and member’s bars and an ATM on the verandah in front of the main building and more two inside.
