I was filled with pride at Sunday’s Remembrance Day Rocky Hill service. Our community turns out in big numbers to commemorate these important events, and I hope this continues.

We moved to Park Road for the re-dedication of the Memorial Avenue in a ceremony well attended by hundreds of Goulburn residents, students, distinguished guests, Army and Air Force Cadet Corps to honour the lasting memory of 86 former East Goulburn soldiers.
The project came about through the hard work of the Avenues of Remembrance and Street Tree Working Party. In 1919, 70 eucalypts were planted along Park Road to honour soldiers who had attended East Goulburn School or resided in East Goulburn when enlisted for service in WWI. This new avenue of oak trees recreates that original Avenue of Honour, and to recognise contributions within all theatres of war.
Thank you to the many community members who attended on Sunday. The Memorial Avenue wall looks fantastic, and will present a strong reminder to all who pass it to remember those who have served for us.
At the conclusion of the speeches, Goulburn East Public students sang the national anthem.
Wreathes and poppies were laid at the Memorial Avenue wall.
Art Gallery’s wonderful job
Have you visited the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery recently?
Our team there is doing a wonderful job putting together thought-provoking exhibitions and programs.
Present exhibition Coarse Stories highlights the work of 10 artists whose art moves through spaces, gathering the experience of their physical, ideological, interior and exterior facets over time.
They have just won two major international and Australian awards for their new visual identity.
The gallery rebranded earlier this year, unveiling the new design in February. This huge achievement puts our regional gallery on the map around the country!
The team has big plans for 2019 as well. Next year the Gallery will launch the largest ever exhibition from its permanent collection as well as a new collection store and website.
