Thursday evening, November 15, would be the last time they would see their classmates, with whom they have spent the last six years or so together as a group.
Some will move to other cities or towns, others will eventually head overseas. Study, work and adventure will scatter them and possibly in five, 10 or more years some will link up for a reunion.
Many of the adults standing watching these young people on Thursday evening reflected on how much the students had grown, not only in stature, since they remembered them as primary students or fresh faced Year 7s entering high school.
