Built in the late 1830s as a coaching inn, Riversdale later became home to the district surveyor, Edward Twynam and his family. Edward was appointed Chief Surveyor of NSW during the 1890s. Standing within its original paddocks and outbuildings, Riversdale is a fine example of a Colonial Georgian home surrounded by splendid gardens and picnic ground and was acquired by the National Trust of Australia NSW in 1968. Riversdale's Victorian Christmas exhibition decorates the historic homestead in Victorian decorations and style, re-creating the atmosphere, life and times of the Twynam family during the late 19th century. This is truly a beautiful sight.
