Special guest speaker for the night was Joerris Noll from Tribe Breweries. Joerris, originally from Germany, moved to Goulburn four months ago and is the site manager at the new brewery in Goulburn.

Mr Noll explained that the brewery is in its final stages of construction, due for completion this month. Following this, they hope to be producing saleable beer by the end of February. Mr Noll spoke about some of the delays throughout the project, largely due to the project escalating in size. The brewery will produce 10 million litres of beer a year.

One third of the five- acre building is still free, which Mr Noll says they will utilise in the future, perhaps through soft drink production.

It is Mr Noll’s goal to have their beers in every pub or bar in Goulburn and to start a local brand again.

Justine Bradney, from TAFE NSW, gave the first one-minute pitch of the night, discussing the issue of skills shortages in the region. Ms Bradney puts some of the cause down to the strong push over the last 10 to 20 years for young people to pursue higher education. Ms Bradney emphasised that training and TAFE should not be a ‘Plan B’.

Brad Drew, from Argyle Locksmiths introduced his new mobile locksmith business. His challenge, he discussed, was engaging with businesses effectively as a mobile business. 

He also touched upon the importance of security in the lead up to Christmas, particularly key control.

Jim Catt, from Jim’s Bean Machine, spoke about his desire to move his choir from Sydney to Goulburn. 

“Money and music unite us,” he said. 

He urged anyone who enjoys singing to talk to him.

Steedman, from Dynamic Fire, conveyed an important message about the NSW fire safety reforms, which aim to improve the fire safety for both new and existing buildings. For more information, Ms Steedman encouraged people to contact Dynamic Fire or visit the FPA Australia website.

Dean Seeley, MC for the evening, thanked everyone for a great year of networking and made mention of a special guest in the room, Richard Joyce who featured on the first season of All Together Now.

Spirits were high throughout the evening, with local business owners relaxing over a drink and delicious food from Harvest, thanks to the sponsors for this month, Goulburn Mulwaree Council. The lucky door prize was won by Julie Kelly, from Workspace 2580.
