This is the first time the college has made it to the final four in the history of the competition with the history books stating we would need to look back as far as back in the days of St Pat’s College in the 90’s winning the final.
The win came from hard work, experience, teamwork, and enthusiasm as the boys spent the past seven weeks preparing for the competition by playing in the First XI Associated Southern College competition against highly competitive teams in the ACT.
This included 50 over games on Sundays and T20’s on Mondays to harden skills with the bat, ball, and fielding.
It was a stand-out between the CCC teams that the Trinity boys were more than capable in the field taking catches and diving to stop boundaries.
Other standout performance included: Jake Paterson (99), Callum Smith (95), Josh Paterson (80 and 47), Josh and Jake’s 135-run partnership, and the bowling efforts of Paddy Craig, Callum Smith and Danyon Bush.
We had a host of other bowlers take wickets: Jack McEntee took a vital wicket to remove Red Bend’s top scoring batsman, Tom Croker, Angus Regterschot, Andy Craig, Liam Mullins, Josh Paterson and Jake Paterson took a three wicket haul in the final victory. Liam and Tom had a 50-run partnership, and there were valuable contributions of runs and fielding by all batsmen including Max Flack, Jack Burke, Alex Partlett, Sam Spackman, and Connor Minehan.
The final was a great game against Red Bend, which came down to the last thirty-five runs. Trinity claimed the win with a memorable catch to seal the victory. The boys will travel to Sydney on Monday February 4, 2019 to play Christian Brothers College Lewisham, and victory will see them through to the grand final.
