2018 was a mixed year for the Landcare community.
The extended dry period causing a lot of anguish and delays to on-ground activities, particularly our tree planting programs.
However, we have also been celebrating huge successes with our Local Landcare volunteers being recognised across the state and nationally for their efforts, including:
- the FROGS Landcare Inc, Garry Kadwell, David Marsh and John Ives, who were all National Landcare finalists;
- the Tarlo/Middle Arm Landcare group being named state finalists in the NSW/ACT Regional Achievement Awards; and
- the Kanangra-Boyd to Wyangala Link partnership finalists in the Banksia Awards.
Our local schools have been also recognised for their outstanding sustainability achievements, including:
- Tambelin Independent
- Goulburn West Public
- Tallong Public, and
- Breadalbane Public.
They all received awards at the Kreative Koala awards ceremony in Goulburn in November for their inspiring projects around the sustainable development goals.
It is great to have the hard work of our dedicated volunteers, students and farmers being acknowledged and rewarded.
The first working bees are starting up mid-January at the wetlands, with other groups back to normal programs in February.
