The 20km course extended from the cemetery up a steady climb to the turnaround point just passed Dennys Lane.
The cross head wind was a challenge on the outward leg but provided some assistance on the return journey.
All riders started at the same time but it was not until the end of the race that each rider’s handicap was revealed.
Paul Parlett was first across the line and took out the fastest time with Michael Beard a close second and Jeremy Gilchrist in third place.
Mrs Bush opened up the handicap envelope and adjusted the times to reflect each riders handicap.
On corrected times a trio of D Grade riders took out the honours. Steve Watts in a welcome return to racing was first just ahead of Graeme Northey and Fiona Berry in third place.
Big thanks to all the volunteers – Phil Bush, Mrs Bush, Rod McWhirter, Chris Berry, Tony Wade and Dave Coveney.
Racing next Wednesday is at Wakefield Park. Sign on by 5.45pm with junior racing at 6.00pm and seniors at 6.15pm. New riders welcome.
The Goulburn Cycle Club was well represented at the National Road Championships held in Ballarat.
In the U23s Road Race Jacob Emmerton spent 95km in the breakaway only to be caught on the last lap by the peloton.
Jacob picked up fourth in the sprint competition and fifth in the King of the Mountain.
In the same race Riley Fleming was seventh and backed up with a sixth in the U23s Individual Time Trial.
Cameron Roberts and Troy Herfoss found the going tough in the Elite Road Race.
Roberts also competed in the Elite Criterium Championships.
