One of the most important things residents can do to prepare before a bushfire is to decide whether they will stay and defend their property or leave early.
The best way to make an informed decision in this regard is to download the NSW Rural Fire Service Bush Fire Survival Plan Guide, which provides four simple steps to follow to get ready for a bushfire.
More information is available from the NSW Rural Fire Service www.rfs.nsw.gov.au.
The council would also like to remind residents that during the Bush Fire Danger Period no permits will be issued for backyard burning.
The statutory Bush Fire Danger period runs from October 1 to March 31 each year, however this may vary due to local conditions.
Pictures & Popcorn at the Pool
Splash into 'Pictures and Popcorn at the Pool' to cool off this Saturday, January 19 from 4pm, with one of Goulburn's favourite family events, as it returns to the Goulburn Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
Enjoy the evening watching a screening of the Disney classic The Little Mermaid.
Grab a blanket, your favourite camping chair or beach towel and immerse yourself in this magical, musical movie.
There will be something for everyone this year. With free entry throughout the evening, the ever-popular Kids' Zone has been planned to cater for all ages, with a giant inflatable Aqua-Run and an Atomic Drop Water Slide, Bumper Boats and Jumping Castle.
The DJ is set to play all the favourites and there will be plenty of food on offer from Eat Street and the Pictures and Popcorn Candy Bar.
