Young people’s service coordinator Michelle Stuart led the session which included stories, craft and even photos in a mermaid inspired photo booth.
Some children dressed in mermaid costumes while others were content to indulge in the craft session or take in stories read by Ms Stuart.
The session was just one of several at the library this month. On Monday, January 21, the facility will host a ‘Butterfly experience’ from 10:30am to 1:30pm.
Ms Stuart said the team from Butterfly Skye's and Bug Shop would a fun interactive experience with live butterflies. Their large portable butterfly house will be set up in the Library, allowing children and adults to get up close. Each one hour session includes craft and a 15-minute butterfly experience. The cost is $5 for children aged four and over.
That afternoon, between 2pm to 2:30pm, a similar session on bugs will be held. Children can learn all about a range of creepy crawlies which may include giant cockroaches, stick insects, snails, scorpions and lots more. The cost is $5 for children aged five and years over and can be made here.
