The fire on Boro Road is under control.
RFS Lake George Fire zone duty officer Adrian Lee said it burnt out one hectare and was thought to have been caused by a lightning strike that could have smouldered in timber for days.
Crews will patrol the area today and part of tomorrow.

The Rural Fire Service is attending a fire in the Tarago district.
Lake George Fire Zone duty officer Adrian Lee said crews were called to the outbreak some 8km southeast of Tarago at 1054 Boro Road at about 11.30am.
He described it as a slow moving fire that was no threat to property but which had generated a great deal of smoke. It broke out in a semi-forested area with some hills nearby.
Three fire trucks and a command vehicle, comprising 16 personnel are on scene.
Mr Lee said the outbreak was not a great concern and it was just a matter of getting it out.
Meantime, Lake George fire zone has been busy sending a remote area team and aviation specialists to the Tasmanian fires and a strike team to battle blazes near Tumut.
